RFA Battle Honours

The award of Battle Honours to ships of Her/His Majesty’s Navy is made by the Navy Board of the Ministry of Defence upon recommendation of the Battle Honours Committee.

This Committee is made up of a Senior Officer of the Second Sea Lord’s Department together with the Head of the Naval Historical Branch.

The earliest action worthy of such an honour was ‘Armada 1588’

Since the formation of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service in 1905 the ships and their crews have been involved in some of the most intense naval warfare in oceans and seas worldwide.

Those ships of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service worthy of recognition with a Battle Honour are listed together with their photographs in this section of Historical RFA.
