RFA Stromness’s final goodbye

In January 1983 RFA Stromness left RFA service when she was bought by the US Navy who renamed her USNS Saturn. She served the US Navy equally as well until 6 April 2009 when she was struck from the US Navy List

 

On 26 and 27 October 2010 the US Navy sank the USNS Saturn in a SINKEX in the Atlantic Ocean off North Carolina
