A Police Inspector, who was prosecuting, told the court that on the afternoon of Saturday 26 January the Chief Steward Mr A Davis caught the two in the act of passing a bag of flour over the stern of the ship into a sampan.
A message was sent to the Water Police Station by Captain Curtain which resulted in their arrest. The Master said he took a serious view of the offence.
One month’s imprisonment was imposed in each case.
