2006 Operation Highbrow

Operation Highbrow was the name given to a large-scale military evacuation of British nationals from Lebanon following of the war between Israel and Lebanon. The Operation commenced on 15 July 2006.


 

Operation Highbrow was the name given to a large-scale military evacuation of British nationals from Lebanon following of the war between Israel and Lebanon. The Operation commenced on 15 July 2006.

According to the MOD, it was the largest operation of its kind since the British evacuation of troops from Dunkirk in 1940. By the 22 July 2006 a total of about 4,500 people had been evacuated.

Royal Navy and Royal Air Force units were supported by RFA Fort Victoria
