HMCS Fredericton (FFH337) sustained minor damage when it scraped an American navy tanker USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196) off the Florida’s Atlantic coast on 18 November 2010

The accident occurred during a replenishment and resupply at sea, when the frigate briefly came into contact with the U.S. Navy’s oiler.

The hulls of both ships sustained superficial scrapes and dents but no one was hurt, the Canadian Forces said in a press statement

The cause of the accident is being investigated. The Fredericton was expected to go into port on Friday as part of its original program schedule.

Both ships were in a Canadian-led task group exercise taking place off the east coast of Canada and the United States for most of November.
