Happy Birthday Historical RFA

The Editors and Webmaster of Historical RFA would like to thank everyone who has visited our site, in doing so they have been able to learn about the amazing history of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service, its ships and their crews.

Our site has helped us to contact former RFA crew members in the UK and overseas – a number who served during the Second World War.

We plan to publish many new stories and features over the next 12 months using information and images from a variety of sources including those donated by a number of our visitors, thank you all for your support and assistance – we really appreciate those who have helped us.

One of the main ethos’s of our site is that we don’t charge for the information we collect and provide to our visitors – after all it is nearly all in the public domain and easily found if you know where to look. Those very few who have declined to help us may be amazed to know that since we started our web site on 15 October 2008 we have had over 13,682 visits by 5,432 visitors from 1,398 networks in 95 countries. Over 61% of our visitors have returned to the site after a previous visit.

These visitors have, so far, viewed over 114,230 pages. The greatest number of views occurred on 17 May 2009 when 51 visitors from 7 countries viewed 1,111 pages in 24 hours.

We would like to thank all our many visitors and in particular those who logged on from: –

British Antarctic Survey

Nuku’alofa in the Pacific

New South Wales Fire Brigade, Australia

The Pentagon, Washington DC

From a P & O Cruise ship at sea

United States Naval Academy, Annapolis

together with those serving at sea on ships of the RFA and members of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Association.

This is the web site that nearly has the same global reach as the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service.

Our motto Ire fortiter quo nemo ante iit really does mean that we boldly go where no one has gone before.
