It is with great sadness that the RFA Historical Society learnt on Thursday 3 March 2011 of the death of Mr Louis Grima, an ex RFA Seaman from Gozo, Malta.
Louis was born on the 29 December 1930 and joined his first RFA, RFA Fort Duquesne on the 25 May 1955 as an EDH. His final trip with the RFA was on RFA Tidereach, which Louis joined on the 5 December 1968 as Deck Storekeeper. After leaving the RFA, Louis sailed on ships in the Mediterranean until he retired

He was a stalwart member of the RFA Historical Society and also of the Ex RFA Association of Malta. His grandson Kenneth has made his grandfather proud by continuing the family tradition as he is currently studying to be a deck officer at a maritime college in Valetta.

Louis died at around 16:00 hrs on the 1 March in hospital on Gozo fortified by the rites of the Catholic Church and was buried at the local parish church of Nadur, Gozo on the 2 March with his many friends and family there to bid farewell to one of life’s true gentlemen and a fine shipmate.
