11 January 1918 launched by Wm Dobson & Co, Walker-on-Tyne as Yard Nr: 208 named BEGONIA for Stag Line Ltd (Joseph Robinson & Sons, Managers) North Shields

6 March 1918 completed at a cost of £94,801 and was immediately requisitioned for Admiralty service as a collier

21 March 1918 torpedoed and sunk by German Submarine UB-55 in the Atlantic 44 miles S x W from Wolf Rock while on passage from the Tyne and Plymouth to Salonika carrying Admiralty stores. No casualties
