23 September 1903 launched by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd. Low Walker, Newcastle as Yard Nr: 408 named EGRET for Cork Steamship Co Ltd, Cork

29 October 1903 underwent trials off the River Tyne which were successful

10 November 1903 sailed Liverpool for Rotterdam

29 December 1905 berthed at Liverpool from Rotterdam

21 July 1909 entered the Eastham Locks for Manchester after arriving from Antwerp

16 June 1910 at Rothesay Dock, Clydebank Assistant Stewardess Emma Van Dyck discharged dead from natural causes

27 September 1910 on the River Clyde off the Cloch Lighthouse while inbound for Glasgow was in collision with the ss Talisman – minor damage was caused and while attempting to avoid the collision the Egret grounded. The tug Flying Elf took her in tow and refloated her

20 January 1913 arrived at Glasgow from Liverpool
