27 December 1939 launched by Caledon Shipbuilding & Engineering Company Ltd., Dundee as Yard Nr: 373 name GLENARTNEY for Glen Line Ltd., Liverpool

October 1940 completed and requisitioned for Admiralty service as a fast Fleet Supply Ship and initially served on the owner’s service

13 October 1940 sailed Liverpool in escorted convoy OL7 until dispersal on 16 October 1940 at 57°00N 24°35W and then independently to Cape Town arriving 31 October 1940

4 November 1940 sailed Cape Town independently to Penang arriving 18 November 1940

19 November 1940 sailed Penang independently to Singapore arriving the next day

23 November 1940 sailed Singapore independently to Hong Kong arriving 27 November 1940

1 December 1940 sailed Hong Knong independently to Shanghai arriving 3 December 1940

5 December 1940 sailed Shanghai independently to Taku Bar arriving 6 December 1940

3 December 1943 in the London Gazette of this day for the rescue of survivors from HMS COMORIN lost by fire in the North Atlantic on 6 April 1941 Assistant Engineer Officer Reginald Scott awarded a Commendation. An ungazetted award for the same rescue was to Quartermaster Siao Chen (a Chinese citizen) awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM)(Civil Division)

1944 was sent to the Pacific and formed part of the Pacific Fleet Train. Also carried out storing at sea experiments with warships
