13 September 1946 while on passage from Curacao to New York with a cargo of oil caught in a hurricane, broke in two and sank in position 35.09N 73.34W with a loss of twelve lives. Eighteen survivors were rescued by the tanker Pan Amoco with a further sixbeing rescued by the tanker Gulfwing
