22 February 1924 at Bermuda a Marine Court of Enquiry was held into the stranding of the Zovetto. The Court consisted of Major R W Appleby, President with Lieutenant Commander F H Bishop Royal Navy and Mr W B Smith MCP as members and Mr A H Edwards as Clerk. The first witness was the ship’s Master Captain Fortunat de Gregori who had served in the Italian Navy during WW1 and had received that countries Distinguished Service Medal for his war work
1 March 1924 at Bermuda before the St George’s Police Court Captain W Hunt was charged with smuggling items from the Zovetto including a box marked ‘War Gascon’
5 March 1924 at Market Square, St George’s, Bermuda bottles of wine and equipment salved from the Zovetto were sold by Public Auction at the directions of the ships Master and Agent
