Practically no information is available on this vessel. She is recorded as part of the Admiralty’s Ferry Steamer Service that operated around anchorages and port areas, eg, Spithead/Portsmouth, Chatham/Sheerness, for moving large numbers of liberty men and crews of floating docks.  

Displacement 690; length 170ft oa, 164ft bp, beam 33ft, draught 6ft.

Machinery steam, 3 cyl triple expansion, single screw, speed 11 kn.

Cargo/operational loading/remarks licensed to carry up to 900 passengers seated and standing.

Career Information:

1913 built for Amazon River service but taken up as HMS ANT

8 September 1914 the Master and crew made a donation of  18 shillings and 6 pence to the War Relief Fund which had been set up by the Mayor of Portsmouth

1924 brought to Auckland for excursion work by G.T. Niccol

1925 sold to Northern Steam Ship Company

1937 laid up

1940 taken over by Royal New Zealand Navy as a Battery Ship

1941 beached at Ngataringa Bay. Engine and boiler removed for use in minesweeper HMNZS MANUKA.
