On 24 January 2020 while on patrol in the Caribbean some 74 nautical miles south of St Croix, US Virgin Islands, a 1,400kg (1.4 tonnes) haul of cocaine, worth approximately £35 million pounds was seized by the crew of RFA Mounts Bay in an operation with US Coastguard personnel

Two ‘go fast’ boats were spotted and stopped. The drugs were found when they were searched. A further 150kg of cocaine, worth an additional £3.75 million, was also recovered after it had been ditched in the sea.
Seven members of the crew of the two boats were arrested.
