29 February 1896  launched by Sir James Laing & Sons Ltd, Deptford Yard, Sunderland as Yard Nr  546 named UMTALI for Bullard, King & Co, London

March 1896  completed

13 February 1897 while on passage from Natal to London was involved in a collision in thick fog off Portland with the steamship Clan Grant of Glasgow.

14 February 1897 reached Portland Harbour in a badly damaged condition where her passengers were landed

13 July 1897 in the Admiralty Division of the High Court a case was heard concerning the above collision before Mr Justice Gorell Barnes sitting with Trinity Masters. The Clan Grant was alone held to blame.

3 January 1915  hired by the Admiralty as a store carrier, name unchanged

17 April 1916 returned to her owners

1925 sold to Yugoslavia and renamed Solun

1927 renamed Vintali

1928 renamed Hvar

1941 renamed Quarmerolo

1945 renamed Hvar (again)

1951 renamed Mornar

1953 broken up at Split
